A Winning Spirit Won the West. Today That
Same Spirit is Key to This Professional's Success

The McKinneys on their ranch.
...

Ask Stephen McKinney how the West was won and he will likely tell you about the farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs who followed their dreams and headed West. Continue listening and you will hear how these dreamers braved the elements and warring Indians to create a new life for themselves and their families. Hard work, vision and character won the West. It was a time when a man's word meant something.

Living The Golden Rule
And that just about sums up who Stephen is - A highly principled professional who has proven his mettle in competitive sports, community involvement and in the business arena. Stephen's competitive spirit was noticed as early as high school when the state's top sportswriter dubbed Stephen "The Savior of Pride and Principle" for his performance on the Montgomery Raiders football team.

Growing up on a large working cattle ranch was a kid's dream come true, but as Stephen entered college he began to dream about a career in real estate. Following that dream, Stephen became a licensed REALTOR® at the age of 19 and was at that time the youngest licensed REALTOR® in the state of Alabama. While pursuing his Bachelors degree from Auburn University, he assisted buyers and sellers. He continued his career in real estate while earning his Masters degree from Auburn, working full time as a REALTOR.

A Man of Many Hats
In every tenure, Stephen has been a man of many hats. For Triangle Development Inc./L & M Investments, he represented developers and builders in residential and commercial ventures. On the executive staff of the University of Alabama, he held responsibility for the purchase, sale and leasing of land and buildings for a five-campus system. For Cluett/Peabody/West Point Stevens, the world’s largest textile manufacturer, he negotiated sales and leasing with real estate agents in two dozen states, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. For Atlanta Consulting, he played critical roles in business relocations, as a liaison with government agencies, real estate agents, contractors and professional firms.

A cowboy at heart, Stephen puts principles that won the West to work for buyers and sellers.
...
A Cowboy at Heart
Of all the hats he’s donned, Stephen is perhaps most comfortable wearing one of his own custom cowboy hats while riding Joaquin, one of his five steeds. Loping along beside him you’re likely to see his wife Ruth on Cougar, daughter Devin on Boomer and son Patrick on Tex. To relax and express their creativity, Stephen and Ruth also enjoy adding to their collection of Old West memorabilia. The two also collect muscle cars, including some especially rare and treasured models. To give back to the Texas community they love, they’re members of the Rotary Club of Denton and contribute a percentage of every commission to United Way of Denton County. Stephen is also involved in all local chambers of commerce in Denton County.

A Will to Win
Stephen’s winning spirit and principled character have set him apart in the corporate world, civic involvement and personal life. But his confidence, strong work ethic and moral code play the most pivotal role in his successful career in real estate. With the same competitive drive and motivated approach that served him well in business, Stephen sets out to achieve homebuyers and sellers’ goals. For every client, he offers deep insight into the local market after taking time to really listen to what they expect in a home sale or purchase.

The Right Professional
With three decades of experience in all facets of real estate sales and development, Stephen has the expertise to not only meet expectations, but to exceed them. Basing his service to clients on a belief that “a promise made is a promise kept,” he uses communication skills, negotiating talent and market knowledge to turn buyers’ and sellers’ dreams into concrete reality. Whether you’re seeking horse property or a traditional family home, or interested in selling a residence that no longer meets your lifestyle needs, your dreams are in good hands with The Spirit of The West at Work for You.
